A perfect place for a dream wedding
With year round sunshine and stunning sandy beaches it is easy to see why UK couples wanting the perfect wedding aboard come to Protaras. The resort has a fantastic seaside promenade, perfect for a leisurely bicycle ride or romantic sunset walk.
Restaurants serve food from around the world and offer al fresco dining is the norm, and plenty of vibrant bars and clubs. For those who want to ample the nightlife of Ayia Napa, Cyprus' renowned party capital is just 16km (10 miles) away. (About 17 Euros for a taxi) What ever you are looking to do Protaras is a resort that has something to offer everyone. Western Europeans flock to Protaras between April to October. Protaras is fantastic for families, due to the safe beaches and amenities all within easy reach and also perfect for couples due to its laid back feel. During the mild winter Protaras attracts older holidaymakers seeking warmer climates.

Protaras is on the east coast of the island (30 miles) from Larnaca Airport.
Behind the waterfront promenade is the main street of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. To the north Protaras merges with the neighbouring resort of Pernera to the north.
Hot Hot Hot
Ok so don’t panic too much generally Cyprus is quite breezy to help keep you cool. Early season in June and late in September it cools down a lot in the evenings. This is a more popular time for weddings.
Think about what time you want to get married too 3pm and 4pm is the most sort after timesbecause it is cooler so book early. The hottest time to go is mid-June to mid-September with 13-12 hours of sunshine a day and temperatures of 34°C to 37°C. Rain is very unusual during the summer; most of the annual rainfall is in the winter December and February.

Best Beaches
Protaras' Fig Tree Bay is one of the best beaches on Cyprus' east coast. Its one of the most famous a perfect place to soak up the suns rays before plunging into the warm and turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. The Main beach in Protaras runs along most of the resorts length. This long stretch of goldensand is beautiful. Sallow waters make it a great beach fro the kids.
Places to visit?
First off to the tiny Church of the Prophet Elias. It overlooks the resort from a 100m-high hill. There is a 300-step ascent to get the blood flowing but when you get to the top will be rewarded with fantastic views across Protaras. Spring is the best time to do visit with the spring bloom in full swing the local flora is spectacular.
Cavo Greko is about 5 minutes drive from Protaras. It is designated a national park and definitely worth a trip. The Sea Caves are stunning. For romance take champagne and walk to the view point at sunset.
Protaras is a great place to rent a bike because it is so flat. Horse riding and hiking is another must-see attraction. There is a beautiful coastal walk too. Look out for the occasional lizard basking in the sun.
Boat trips are a great way to see the island and the Cavo Greko sea caves. There is a big choice from catamarans to pirate ships. Remember your towel in case you fancy a dip. New to Ayia Napa last year was the pirate ship which is fantastic for kids and it looks great!
Fancy splashing about head for the Ayia Napas water Park. Whether it’s the death slide or the lazy river that floats your boat there is something for everyone. There are plenty of sun beds and parasols too if you need some respite from the heat.
Retail therapy, there are plenty of tourist shops jam packed with souvenirs. Look out for the sales in August a great time to buy jewellery at great prices.
Night Life
There are plenty of bars in Protaras to choose from and open til the small hours. Get down to TJs to see quality acoustic duos and other live music acts. For those looking for something with a bit more bite Ayia Napa is 10mins by taxi. Check out Ayia Napa’s very own Live Lounge home to resident covers band The Loud Hailers. They play everything from queen to the killers, Ah Ha to Journey. It’s a lively indie bar with something for everyone. Find it behind the castle club in the main square.
